Hammersley Homes' 2024 goal: This year we aim to host more fundraising events and concentrate our funding on working towards building our first Hammersley Home. What's yours?
We celebrate our volunteers here at Hammersley Homes at every opportunity, but the importance of volunteers across the globe came into focus for Louise during her frightful experience of the earthquakes that took place in Morocco in September.
Our stand at the New Forest Show this year was a fabulous success, even with the weather being pretty grim – but the crowds came, nevertheless. We hosted a quiz to raise awareness of the effect of mental illness on our communities, and it garnered a great deal of interest – particularly with a week of indulgence at a fully-staffed Riad in Morocco as the tempting prize to enter our quiz draw!
We are eager to share with you all of the things that have been going on at Hammersley Homes this month and the exciting things we have in store just around the corner.
We are delighted to have expanded our Outreach Service into the Winchester area and are now working closely with the local Community Mental Health Teams there. Winchester University is proving to be a wonderful source of volunteers to work with us and we are extremely grateful to those of you that have joined the team.
As part of our Halloween celebrations, we embarked on a pumpkin-themed adventure with some of our Outreach clients. Whilst the pumpkin pyramid and spooky skeletons might have sent a shiver down their spines, they had a brilliant time exploring the local community and spending time with our lovely volunteers.
We had a wonderful time exhibiting at the New Forest Show for the first time. It was a great opportunity to showcase the work that we are doing with our Hammersley Homes Project and celebrate the success that we have seen. We met so many great people who shared our vision and we will definitely be back next year!
We are very grateful to Age Unlimited who have supported us yet again this year, with a grant of £5,000 for the second year running, to expand our ever-growing and successful Outreach Programme.
