2 wonderful teachers are retiring after 32 years at Lord Wandsworth College, and are generously combining their retirement celebration with fundraising for Hammersley Homes!

Hammersley Homes is hosting our first-ever charity walk, the Golden Steps Walk. This family-friendly event aims to raise awareness about mental illness and provide vital support to those experiencing isolation.

We are proud to be participating in The Big Give Christmas Challenge again this year. From 29 November - 6 December, every donation is MATCHED, so every donation will be DOUBLED, which will make a huge difference for our charity!

Pedro is one of our fabulous Outreach Volunteers, who has really made a difference to the lives of some of our vulnerable clients he’s been visiting.

The often-invisible nature of mental illness, and the fact that carers may not be helping with physical tasks, often means such carers, and those around them, don’t class what they do as ‘care’. But their role is just as valid, and deserving of support, as someone who cares for a physically disabled person.

Struggling with loneliness? Ironically, you’re not alone. The Covid-19 lockdowns have created a ‘hidden pandemic’ of loneliness and mental ill-health, with 1 in 14 saying they ‘often’ felt lonely during the pandemic - up 40% from pre-Covid. That’s why the theme for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week, a campaign run by the Mental Health Foundation, is loneliness.

Twenty-two in 2022 is the challenge to walk 2,022 steps, or 2.2 kilometres a day or 22,000 steps or 22 kilometres in a week -or any distance you choose for as may days as you choose, to raise funds for our Hammersley Homes project.

Well we did it! April and I walked 80 miles around the Isle of Wight coastal path at the end of July, and returned home feeling a terrific sense of achievement...

We have an exciting opportunity for the children in your school to get creative, help a charity and potentially see their artwork delivered to 100’s of people around the country. THE DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO 15TH AUGUST.

One of the biggest problems we face is not opposition to the idea of supported homes for adults with long-term mental illness, but simply a lack of awareness about the scale and severity of need for these homes.

Caroline will use her artistic skills to create an original portrait from a photograph you supply - people, pets, houses - she’ll accept most challenges!
