Hammersley Homes celebrating successful New Forest Show

A mental health charity is celebrating after a “hugely successful” appearance at a major agricultural show.
Hammersley Homes, which supports adults living with enduring serious mental illness, spent three days engaging with members of the public at the New Forest Show.
The charity raised awareness about the urgent need for long-term supported housing in Hampshire.

Louise Hallett, founder of Hammersley Homes, said: “It’s been amazing.
“We’ve had lots of interesting conversations, sold tickets for our opera fundraiser on 18 August and had the opportunity to explain the difference between mental health and mental illness to so many people.”
The charity’s ‘Building Hope, Brick by Brick’ stand featured interactive Lego activities for visitors of all ages, including a competition to guess the number of Lego bricks in a jar.
Visitors also had the chance to win a Lego Home Alone house set.
The team spoke with attendees about its outreach service.
This service offers regular contact, home visits, and community activities for adults living with long-term mental ill health in the New Forest, Southampton, and Winchester.
Many visitors expressed interest in volunteering.
The charity also sold tickets for its upcoming fundraiser.
The event is an outdoor performance of Mozart’s Così fan tutte in Lymington on August 18.
