Lymington woman hosted event supporting Hammersley Homes

A woman has welcomed more than 3,000 visitors into her home over the past five years to raise more than £200,000 for charities.
Amanda Mann, who lives in Lymington, has turned her home, Kingfishers, into a community hub by hosting charity events in support of good causes.
This week, she hosted an open-air performance featuring the Scherzo Ensemble supporting Hammersley Homes, a Lymington-based mental health charity.
Ms Mann said: “When I saw everybody move forward at the beginning of the performance and engage, it was really amazing.

“To see the garden full of people from across Lymington was quite something.
“The love of Lymington was full in my heart.”
The event drew a crowd of 320 people and raised funds for Hammersley Homes.
She said: “My home is a thriving community.
“It’s a living organism.
“I’m blessed to live in a beautiful home and I feel like it’s my duty to share it.
“It’s not an ivory tower.”
Ms Mann believes that the most valuable form of support goes beyond financial contributions.
She said: “It’s not financial giving anymore that makes a difference.
“It’s actually the connections and the people.”
She also emphasised the need for greater understanding of mental health.
She said: “When you’re physically ill, people can see you’ve got crutches or a wheelchair
or something.
“Mental health you can’t actually see.”
