It was the end of a long journey for me. On the 21st January 2015, I was formally discharged from the care of my local Community Mental Health Team. It was a journey that had started back in 1996.

As part of our Big Give Campaign this week, where all donations are doubled at no cost to you through the Christmas Challenge, we spoke to a doctor about how people end up in hospital when they reach crisis point with the symptoms of their mental illness.

Loneliness is a very personal emotion. But it is something that many of us will encounter at some point in our lives. It also has a broad spectrum; it can be anything from a temporary feeling of loneliness, to long-term chronic loneliness.

Mental Health Awareness Week runs from 15th – 21st May. The focus this year is on anxiety, and in particular the anxiety caused by the current cost of living crisis.

It is a time to celebrate our four-legged friends and all the benefits that they bring to us.
