I have been in my home in Taroudant, Morocco since the middle of August. The seconds when the world shook around me, and I thought the building I was in would collapse, were the most terrifying of my life.
The Health and Social Care Act was passed in 2012. At the time it was hailed as, “…the most extensive reorganisation of the structure of the National Health Service in England to date.“ However, the Act has had a catastrophic effect on people who are seeking help for drug and alcohol addiction.
Two of our amazing volunteers - Jenny Weston and Jill Stafford - researched the availability of supported housing options in Hampshire for us, to demonstrate the vital need for our Hammersley Homes project

Our stand at the New Forest Show this year was a fabulous success, even with the weather being pretty grim – but the crowds came, nevertheless. We hosted a quiz to raise awareness of the effect of mental illness on our communities, and it garnered a great deal of interest – particularly with a week of indulgence at a fully-staffed Riad in Morocco as the tempting prize to enter our quiz draw!
The practice of art can help to reduce anxiety and stress. It is an absorbing hobby that focuses the mind. I like nothing better than to be outdoors drawing or sketching. Becoming totally engrossed in capturing on paper what is in front of me.
We are looking for a part-time Outreach Home Visitor to join our team. This role is funded until 2026, by a National Lottery Community Grant award.
